Duke Hospitals' Hydraulic Fluid Exposure Toxicity Resources

- Hydraulic Fluid Contents and Contaminants Toxnet HSDB Cross-Reference

Duke Hospitals patient releases indicate that 11 contaminants were found in the hydraulic fluid which was introduced into the surgical cleaning and sterilization process. Those contaminants, compounds with those contaminants, other potentially toxic hydraulic ingredients and other contaminants judged likely to be found in used hydraulic fluid are cross-referenced with the Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB) Toxnet database, with information concerning treatment, possible symptoms and other related medical care information, in this link.

HSDB is a part of the Toxnet Toxicology Data Network provided by the United States National Libray of Medicine, a service of the National Institute of Health.

- National Library of Medicine Toxicology Data Network (Toxnet)

Toxnet allows you to search the database for symptoms, matching the symptoms with potential toxins which might match those symptoms. For further information on Toxnet and it's use, click here or here.

- Potential Symptoms / Hydraulic Fluid Content / Contaminants Cross-Reference

The linked resources lists symptoms which may be a result of toxic exposure, cross-linking these symptoms to contents and contaminants potentially found in used hydraulic fluid.

Please let us know if you are aware of any additional toxicity research resources which would be of use to those involved with the research study.
